Four people recover from coronavirus as cases increase in Iraq

In Baghdad and Kirkuk province, four persons infected by coronavirus recovered after being quarantined and receiving treatments.

Health directorate and local administration in Kirkuk, on Friday, March 6, in a press conference announced that three persons recovered from coronavirus.

Karim Wali, head of the health directorate, stated that after quarantining the patients and giving them treatments, three persons tested negative.

The three people are ready to leave the hospital, according to Wali. They are from the family who was infected by the virus for the first time on February 25.

In Kirkuk, seven cases were confirmed; the recovery of three persons decreases the cases to four. 19 people have been quarantined in Kirkuk after their return from Iran.

On the same day, Furat General Hospital in Baghdad announced the first recovery of the virus. The person was 42 years old and tested negative on Friday.

41 cases have been recorded in Iraq. One of them was an Iranian citizen who was transported to Iran. Three of them have died from the virus, and four patients have recovered, according to the latest announcement of the Iraqi Ministry of health and Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Ministry of Health.

Crisis Committee in Iraq, with the presence of KRG representative, decided to continue closing down schools and universities until March 21.

The committee also decided to close malls, cinemas, cafeterias, and tea shops and warned Iraqi citizens, who are currently in Iran, to return by March 15. Otherwise, borders will be closed, and only the airports will remain open.

Halting trades with Kuwait and Iran through the borders from March 8 to March 15 is another decision the committee made.

The coronavirus firstly emerged in China and later reached many countries.

Worldwide, 100 thousand people have been infected by the virus. More than 56 thousand of them recovered from the virus, while more than three thousand and 500 people died.
