Tavga Tahseen never leaves a country empty-handed, always collecting various gems and stones she could have to use them in her craft as a jeweller.
It has been her longing for 30 years, as she recently considered opening a place to exhibit and sell her craft in the form of necklaces and jewellery.
"Age is no restriction to follow your dream. We should not sit and sulk, because as life goes on, we should at least live with passion," she told KirkukNow.
In her 45, Tavga was able to allocate to rooms from her family's house to her craft, one to exhibit and the other to sell, "When my children grew up and went on with their lives, I wanted to realise my 30-year dream. Thus I opened this place."
She was born in Erbil but left to Baghdad when she married at 18. In Baghdad, she completed a degree in engineering. Now she has two daughters and a son. She returned to Erbil in 2012.
February 2018 was a different month for Tavga, as she started to introduce her talent to the family, friends and people. Her place is named "Inji".
Used to be a housewife, Tavga was inspired by many individuals and groups, including the Businesswoman of Kurdistan group, which was established in 2012, now has 60 members.
Using precious stones, Tavga creates many forms of jewellery, including necklaces, belts, rosary, and many other items.
Having opened three exhibitions, Tavga helped some other women to exhibit their craft through her exhibitions.
The percentage of working women in the Kurdistan region reaches 14%, with the majority working in the public sector.
Tavga uses the social networks, especially Facebook, to promote her work, aiming at encouraging women to exhibit their craft in her shop, "I encourage those who have just started doing this craft not to be afraid of success. They should take the path."
