Hasan Torhan, chairman of the Kirkuk Provincial Council has promised that there will be 24-hours-per-day of electricity provision in July, as the price of private generators and fuel has been decided.

After a regular session of the KPC on June 24 Torhan said, “People will receive 24- hours-per-day in July, as we have an agreement to do so with privately-owned generators.”

In the session, the KPC decided to increase the amount of free fuel provided for the privately-owned generators from 15 to 30 liters per KV, and to increase the price of one ampere of provided power from generators from three to four thousand Iraqi dinars.

In theory, the privately-owned generators should be ready to provide power whenever the public power goes off.  Otherwise, the KPC will take the necessary measures.

“The decision to increase the amount of free fuel comes from the current electricity situation,” Torhan said.
