Iraq in Need of Arms in Combating “Terror”

The Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki declared that his country needs weapons to defeat “terror”.

A statement published on the PM’s website pointed out that Al-Maliki has called for the Russian government’s support in a meeting with the Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov and Michael Bogdanov, the Russian President Vladimir Putin’s private envoy, to support Iraq in fighting “terror”.

Al-Maliki stressed Iraq’s need for special weapons and military equipment to be able to stand up against terrorists as well as exchange intelligence.

Lavrov who arrived in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Thursday the 20th Febuary 2014 for talks and discussions with senior government officials on regional issues of mutual interest, the statement said.

He also expressed Russia’s support for the Iraqi government on all fronts.
