Miss Kurdistan in Kirkuk: Women and Children First

Miss Kurdistan said that that she has two projects for the city of Kirkuk, focusing on women, children, and the IDPs, especially the Yazidi (Ezidi) survivors from the grip of ISIS.
Zhalia Sirwan, Miss Kurdistan said in an interview with KirkukNow that she has special projects for Kirkuk.
During a visit to Kirkuk, she said that her first project involves fund raising for the Cancer Centre in Kirkuk, which is scheduled to begin in April.
Zhalia said, “Green Kurdistan” project includes planting trees in Kurdistan and Kirkuk. Our goal is to keep the environment of Kirkuk, and we do not want the city to be neglected in this campaign.”
Miss Kurdistan said her message to the people of Kirkuk is peace and security among the components of the city, adding,” peace must prevail among all components of Kirkuk.”
The focus of Miss Kurdistan’s future projects will be IDP’s children and the Yazidi (Ezidi) women survivors from the grip of ISIS.
Zhalia said that, “in association with the Peace Organization, we are trying to help the displaced children who live in the camps by bringing them back to school, or ensuring their basic needs at least.” She called upon the relevant authorities in Kurdistan Region and Iraq to cooperate to implement this project.”
Zhalia, who was selected as Miss Kurdistan in October 2016, said her projects will focus on serving the Yazidi (Ezidi) women who survived the grip of ISIS. She said she is contact with a number of civil society organizations to bring the survivors back into the society.
She also said that “she has planned for a campaign in March to collect donations for the Peshmerga forces and the families of those died.”
Zhalia Sirwan talked about her plans for March 8th, “We will participate in a number of events with other organizations.”
She said that, “violence against women is one of the most important issues that I will be working on in the future.”
