Twin suicide bombings target Kirkuk

Twin suicide attacks targeted Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) bases in Kirkuk on Sunday afternoon in which at least one person was killed.

A Kirkuknow correspondent reported from the scene at Atlas street in Kirkuk where the attacks occurred at 1:20 pm on Sunday, November 5, near a base of Saraya Salam part of the PMF.

Since the Iraqi forces retook the city of Kirkuk from Kurdish forces on October 16, this is the first bombing that occurred in the city.

“One killed and 21 wounded as a result of the bombing according to the initial assessment,” Afrasyav Kamil , spokesperson for the Kirkuk police told Kirkuknow.

A large number of forces reported to have arrived at the scene and intense gunfire could be heard after the bombings, Kirkuknow correspondent said.

During the campaigning for Kurdistan referendum, an explosion in Adan neighborhood in Kirkuk on September 16 killed three people and nine more were wounded.
