Gunmen fire 24 bullets at a journalist’s house in Diyala

Two gunmen on a bike fired upon the house of a Kurdish journalist in Kifri town in Diyala province and then fled the scene without causing any injuries to the occupants of the house. The shooting happened  around 1:00 am in the early hours of Monday (November 27) when Haydar Ahmad and his family were at home.

“it was at 1:10 am when two men on a bike fired 24 bullets into our house hitting my car and the front door of the house,” Haydar Ahmad told Kirkuknow.

Haydar Ahmad is a journalist working for Gali Kurdistan satellite channel which is an official outlet of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

“I have no issues with anyone and i have lodged a complain at the police station,” Haydar Ahmad said.

Bahez Hussein the head of Gali Kurdistan calls on the security forces to protect journalists and says they are waiting for the investigation by the police.

The same night that the gunmen fired on Haydar Ahmad, his uncle’s house in Kifri came under attack from other gunmen also on a bike.

A source within the police says no injuries were occurred as a result of the shootings and the police  are currently investigating the incidents.
