A Quick Reaction Forces’ officer (QRF) was shot and killed by unknown shooters in Tuz Khurmatu.

Today, March 4, a QRF platoon was attacked by unknown armed people.

Lieutenant Abdulamir Hamdawi stated to Kirkuknow: “Our officer (Asaad Shamari) was on duty when he was shot by unknown shooters”.

He added: “We started investigations about the incident, and we suspect the shooters to be so-called Islamic State members”.

This year on December 1, Iraqi Ministry of Interior placed QRF in Tuz Khurmatu district in order to secure the area after the October 16 clashes in the disputed areas.

Tuz Khurmatu district is the only “disputed” area between Iraqi Government and Kurdistan Region of Iraq in Salahaddin province. Its residents are Kurds, Arabs, and Turkmen.
