IHEC registers ten thousand foreign and local poll watchers in Kirkuk

The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) office in Kirkuk registered IDs to ten thousand local and foreign poll watchers to observe the coming Iraqi parliament election in Kirkuk.

Abd Al Basit Dawresh, IHEC communication and media official in Kirkuk told KirkukNow, “Three local and foreign civil society organizations are allowed to observe the election process so far, and ten thousand IDs are prepared for them.”

He also talked about the broadcasting the election by the media agencies and said, “Four voting centers are allocated to the journalists to be able to broadcast the process which three of them are at the center of the city, and one is in Hawija district.”

The Iraqi parliament election will be held on May 12th to choose 329 representatives in all the Iraqi provinces.

Mr. Darwesh added more and said, “Those citizens who have registered for the new biometric voter cards until January 9th of this year, they can vote with their new cards, but those who have registered after that date, they can vote with their old cards.”
