WADI has delivered 146 seminars for 3,000 women in different places of the disputed areas and the Kurdistan region, on the subject of justice for vulnerable groups.

The project started in January 2017, funded by the European Union. It aims at improving the human rights situation in prisons through social and legal awareness seminars, according to WADI.

WADI is a partner organization of KirkukNow, working together on rights projects.

The rights of women and human rights violations were, particularly under focus. The project also included social and legal counselling for the participants.

“Until August 2018, WADI has seen over 3000 women and provided over 146 seminars and has seen over 66 cases in which were either represented in court or received individual legal and social counselling, the working areas being: Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Ranya, Garmyan and Halabja,” the group said.

WADI reported the need to further such projects as few seem to have to know their rights as vulnerable people, whether urban or non-urban.
