Hashd al-Sha’bi (Popular Mobilization) forces discovered the remains of three Kurdish Peshmargas in Hawija, south of Kirkuk , who have been missing since the 2014 ISIS attacks on the area.

Colonel Hussein Ali Najm, a commander in the Hashd al-Sha’bi forces said “We found the remains inside an uncompleted house, while conducting search operation in the (Wahda) quarter near the Hawija industrial area”.

“we found identification cards with the remains which indicated that they were members of the Kurdish Peshmarga forces.”, Colonel Hussein told (Kirkuk Now).

He noted that the ID card of an Arab from Iraq’s southern province of Dhiqar (Nasiriyah) was also found inside the house.

A source from the Kirkuk forensic medicine department said, “The remains will be sent to Baghdad labs for DNA tests in order to confirm their identities before handing them over to their families”.

General Muhammad Qadir, commander of the Peshmarga forces in Daquq confirmed to (Kirkuk Now) that the 3 deceased peshmargas had served under his command in the confrontations with ISIS terrorists but were later held captive and apparently executed by the terrorist group.
