Iraq’s minister of reconstruction and housing Bangin Rekani declared that his ministry is moving ahead with reconstruction projects in Ninewa province, indicating that the rebuilding of all bridges devastated during the war against the Islamic State will be complete by early next year.

Meeting the head and members of the Ninewa provincial council in his first visit since he took office, Rekani said, “The visit was follow up on the ministry’s pending service projects, including water and sanitation projects”. He emphasized that work on planned reconstruction and rehabilitation projects will resume soon.

At a press conference attended by (KirkukNow) , the Iraqi minister  reiterated that coordination will be on a high level with regard to the rebuilding of the western bank of Mosul which suffered the most devastation during the war.

Many vital bridges in Mosul were blown up by Islamic State militants after they controlled the city in June 2014; some of them were destroyed during the battles to retake the city.

The rehabilitation of these bridges is considered a crucial step towards stabilization and restoring the growth of economy to the city.
