In four months, 17 die from traffic accidents
In the first four months of 2012, 249 car accidents were reported which resulted in 17 deaths.
Capt. Omer Ja’far, Chief of the Kirkuk Traffic Police confirmed the numbers saying, “In the past four months, 249 car accidents happened with 17 deaths and 79 injured.” He attributed the accidents to, “Some drivers who do not follow traffic rules.”
In 2011, 389 traffic incidents happened with 42 deaths and 206 injures. “According to the statistics of these four months, the rate of traffic incidents has increased since we have almost reached half of last year’s deaths only in four months,” Capt. Ja’far said.
He urged the drivers not to violate traffic rules as to prevent increase in traffic accidents.
