The Kirkuk Provincial Council (KPC) rejected a decision held by the Daquq District Council to found five stadiums, a rejection which stirs anger among Daquq youths.

Zahir Bakir, head of the projects in the Daquq District Council said, “As the council, we formally asked for founding five new stadiums for the surrounding villages, but the KPC is not ready to accept.”  He said the KRG has found three stadiums inside Daquq, but surrounding villages also need stadiums.

Hasan Baba Ali, a youth from the Hawtaghar village says if the KPC rejects the decision, they will launch a protest.

The village youths head to Daquq each night to play, but Baba Ali says it’s not easy and dangerous at the time being.

Daquq is 44 km south of Kirkuk city. The residents there are busy mainly with agriculture and livestock.
