Two separate traffic accidents caused nine casualties including five deaths.

Early in the morning of June 19, Kawa Gharib, Chief of Daquq Police told PUK Media, “In different car accidents on the Baghdad – Kirkuk Road, five people died and four were left injured.”

The first accident happened between Daquq and Taza towns, as the second occurred on the Daquq-Duz road.  “The reason of the accidents was the heavy dust storm which started recently in the region,” according to the Chief of the Daquq Police.

Late last month, the Kirkuk Police issued the traffic incidents figures for the past four months which revealed that 17 people had died and 79 were left injured in 249 reported accidents.  In comparison, in 2011 42 people died and 206 were injured.
