Kirkuk produces highest grain product in ten years
The product of wheat and barely in Kirkuk reached 280 thousand tons, as the director of Agriculture Department said it’s the highest in the last decade.
Mehdi Mubarak director of Agriculture Department said, “Harvesting season in Kirkuk has begun, as 250 thousand tons of grain have been produced in 650 thousand acres of land.”
700 harvesters are sawing on the daily bases, sending the product into Kirkuk silos according to Mubarak. “We asked the Iraqi government to open two more silos for us, as the other cannot hold becaue of business, they opened Duz silo of grain products of Duz, and Shirgat for Zab, Abbasi and Hawija.”
He urged the farmers not to rush while sending their grain products, as they accept grain until late July in five silos, “Until present, 20 thousand tons of wheat and barely are sent to the silos.”
