Five years have passed since the death of Abdulwahid Gozeci, a famous Turkmen singer in Kirkuk.

Gozeci was born in 1925 in Mousalla, Kirkuk. He quit school after finishing primary school there. His biography is portrayed in a book written by Shamsadeen Gozeci.

According to the book, Gozeci started in the primary school by reciting the Koran, as his ‘nice voice’ affected his teachers. His talent was found in his early years.

In 1952, Gozeci went to London, recording many songs and maqams and Turkmen qoriyats on one of the radio stations in the city. During 1956 to 1958, he sang with various famous singers in Turkey.
