Residents of Sonegoli alley in Kirkuk launched a protest against the lack of electricity and water, demanding their issues be resolved soon.

Tariq Muhamad, a representative of the protesters said, “The Kirkuk administration is yet to provide us with power, along with the drinking water shortage which made us trespass to gain some water.”

Although the residents ‘have informed’ the administration about their issues, the response has been ‘a cold promise’ by the administration. The protesters were shouting some slogans along with burning tires to show their anger.

Sonegoli is a new alley, and Kirkuk administration has repeatedly made the claim that Baghdad is not allowing serving new alleys and neighbourhoods properly.

Sonegoli was a village near the Rahimawa neighbourhood until 2003.  It was made an alley of Kirkuk with 400 families living in it after the US-Iraqi war in 2003.
