Kirkuk comes second in wheat production

Producing 281 thousand tons of wheat, Kirkuk now ranks second amongst the other provinces of Iraq according to Kirkuk Agriculture director Mehdi Mubarak.
Mubarak says 231 thousand tons out of the 281 have been sent to the Kirkuk silos, and that “Kirkuk is producing wheat and barley mostly, but because of not having enough silos, its production was not formerly known.”
The Kirkuk Agriculture Directorate said they have opened two silos to receive 93 tons of wheat, along with 128 tons of wheat to the silos of Kirkuk, Riyadh, and Hawija.
10 thousand additional tons were sent to the other companies of the city, while 50 thousand tons were sold in the bazaar.
“Wasit (Kut) was the first, and we are the second as Kirkuk with producing 281 thousand tons of wheat,” Mubarak said.
