ISIS Captures 350 People from Hawija

The ISIS militants captured 350 people as they tried to escape from Hawija towards Maktab Khaled area in Kirkuk which is the under the control of the Iraqi forces.
On the night of February 7th, more than 700 people from Riadh and Rashad tried to flee to Kirkuk in two separate groups, but they were ambushed by ISIS militants and around 350 of them fell in the hands of ISIS.
Leyla Ahmed, who is one of the survivors of the attempt to escape ISIS-controlled areas, told KirkukNow that, “On the night of February 7th, our men decided to escape to the nearest point under the control of the Peshmarga. Near the village of Zebat, we fell in an ambush by the ISIS militants, and a big group of us were captured.”
Leyla, while carrying a child in her arms, also said, “his name is Shahen, he is my nephew, and he is only 10 days old. When we were caught in the ambush by ISIS, my sister and her husband could not escape, and they fell in the hands of ISIS.”
Shekh Naif Ahmed Marzuq Neemi, Commander of the tribal forces in Hawija told KirkukNow, “The people decided among themselves to escape in two separate groups. Some planned to flee to Maktab Khalid, and some others planned to escape to the Hamrin Mountains. 300 people managed to escape to Maktab Khalid, but 260 people could not make it, and they fell in the hands of ISIS militants.”
He said, “the second group who were heading to the Hamrin Mountains also fell into an ambush by the ISIS militants too. 125 people including women and children were captured.”
Around 385 people were captured by the ISIS militants during both escape attempts, and there is no news about their whereabouts.
