“My name is Basna Mirza. I’m 25 years old from Shingal’s Khanasur residential compound.”

“Currently we live in an uncompleted house in Sharya IDP camp in Duhok province.”

“I graduated from high school 5 years ago but my marks didn’t qualify me for admission to any universities or institutes.”

“No one in my family works; therefore I decided to work in a restaurant.”

“I earn around 8 thousand dinars (US$ 6) per day which I use to support my family.”

“I plan to save some of the money to ensure university fees which I had not been able to join because of poverty.

I am proud of my job and I want to tell all other girls that nothing should stop them from pursuing their dreams.
