There is a common belief among people, especially some women, that withdrawal (Pull Out) method of contraception or external ejaculation known in Kurdish as natural contraceptives by men can lead to diseases such as a dry uterus and subsequent infertility for the female partner.
However, gynecologists and obstetricians say there is no scientific basis for this.
Parzhin Jalal Abdullah, a gynecologist and obstetrician, explained to KirkukNow, "A woman's uterus is an internal organ that continues to function regardless of whether sperm enters or not. Infertility is caused by various factors such as infections, hormonal problems, and other issues."
The withdrawal (Pull Out) method of contraception (coitus interruptus) or external ejaculation happens when man takes the penis out of the vagina and ejaculate outside the vagina to try to prevent pregnancy, says Mayo Clinic.
“The goal of the withdrawal method — also called "pulling out" — is to keep sperm from entering the vagina.”
However, other methods of contraception are available, including hormonal pills, injections, subcutaneous armbands lasting 3 to 5 years, and vaginal rings. Condoms are another contraceptive method that also protect women from sexually transmitted diseases.
Doctors recommend that women consult with a healthcare provider before choosing a contraception method. The best option depends on the individual's health, and a doctor can help determine the most suitable method.
