My name is Jinan Shakir, I am 29 years old, and I live in the village of Srechka in the Alqosh sub-district in the Nineveh Plains. I opened a small bookstore inside the village containing 1,500 titles.

At first, I was selling books via the Internet from 2019 to 2022. I sold more than 300 books in this way, and in February I opened my bookstore in the center of the village.

My mother is deceased and I live with my parents and brothers. I run the office besides the housework.

In 2016, I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Duhok and I have been working as a lecturer for three years. Early in the beginning, I have got an account on Facebook to display my books there.

I am the first girl in the Tel Kaif district to open a library and I am proud of that. Through this I can urge people to read books. My main goal is to increase the demand of my villagers to read books.

Since last February, I have sold more than 500 books, the library includes different titles. Because of the success of my project, they asked me to open a branch in Tel Kaif, but I haven't decided on that yet.
