Two health workers have died of COVID-19 in Kirkuk within 24 hours and tens of other health employees are under medical observation.
Today, June 23, an administrative employee at the Kirkuk health directorate, named Najat Rashid Mohammed, died of the coronavirus after days of infection.
It was the second death among health workers in 24 hours, when a nurse, who worked at the nursing department of Kirkuk General Hospital, died of the virus yesterday, June 22.
“Ten of other health workers have contracted the virus and they are under medical observations… another two were suspected of having the virus and have tested, but the results are yet to be known,” a source from health directorate told KirkukNow.
Today, June 23, Kirkuk crisis cell made several new decisions with regard to COVID-19, including a decision that would allow health directorate to let coronavirus patients self-quarantine at their homes.
Yesterday, the crisis cell also met and decided to allocate Kirkuk general hospital to treat COVID-19 patients as a spike in coronavirus cases was seen.
799 coronavirus cases have been recorded in Kirkuk, among which 231 recoveries and 31 deaths.
