One Iraqi Army officer was killed and two soldiers were killed in an attack on a military convoy in Kirkuk province’s Daquq district. Another soldier was severely injured.
The explosion took place between the villages Qahhara and Khasha in south Daquq around 19:00 on 1 January.
A source from the General Hospital of Daquq told KirkukNow: “An army officer and two soldiers were killed and another soldier was injured. He is currently receiving treatment in our hospital.”

Although the Iraqi government ended ISIS control across the country by the end of 2017, the areas in south and south-west of Kirkuk province remain insecure; civilians and security personnel are regularly targeted by armed attacks and IEDs.
