38 coronavirus cases recorded in Iraq, three death reported

In Iraq, coronavirus cases reached 38; three people already died from the virus. Last night, March 4, two persons died from the coronavirus after being infected by the virus, according to the latest data published by the Iraqi Ministry of Health.

Doctor Sayf Badr, the spokesperson of the ministry, stated the persons who died was 65 years and had numerous chronic diseases. The other person suffered from a vulnerable immune system.

Within the last ten days, in Iraq, including Kurdistan Region, 38 coronavirus cases have been recorded, including an Iranian citizen who was later transported to Iran.

The infected people are in the city of Baghdad, Kirkuk, Sulaimaniyah, Najaf, Diyala, Maysan, Babil, Wasit, and Karbala.

The total number of cases in the Kurdistan region increased to eight, all of which have been recorded in Sulaimaniyah, according to the latest announcement of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Health. Only one of them, who was 63 years old, has died.

After reporting the death of an infected person in Sulaimaniyah, the Iraqi ministry of health explained that the person had several chronic diseases and his health condition disturbed. He died before his coronavirus tests came out.

The KRG ministry of health insisted that the person death resulted from coronavirus infection. Later, his family members were tested, and two of them, 31 and 27, tested positive.

In the Kurdistan Region, with the suspicion of coronavirus, more than two thousand and 586 people have been quarantined.

Most of the people who are infected and quarantined have recently come back from Iran.

The coronavirus firstly emerged in China and later reached many countries.

Worldwide, 93 thousand people have been infected by the virus. More than 50 thousand of them recovered from the virus, while more than three thousand people died.

To prevent the further outbreak of the virus in Iraq, the educational institutions, including schools and universities, are closed, and working hours at the governmental directorates have been reduced.
