The use of testosterone injections, sometimes referred to as hormone injections, negatively impacts sperm generation in young men and can result in infertility.
This danger is perpetuated among some individuals based on false information claiming that the injections are harmless.
"Testosterone is a male hormone produced in the testicles that helps develop masculine characteristics in men. Unfortunately, the misuse of this hormone is quite common, especially among athletes, for the purpose of enhancing muscle strength and size," said Dr. Ranj Kakil, a urologist.
"When a person uses testosterone without medical advice, the brain receives signals to stop producing it naturally because there is already an excess in the body. This disruption in natural testosterone secretion can lead to a decrease in sperm count and an increased risk of infertility."
Furthermore, the doctor explained that unauthorized and unnecessary use of testosterone injections can result in a decrease in sperm count, absence of sperm, and an increased risk of impotence.
