A security source confirmed that armed groups were planning to infiltrate Iraq from Syria, based on accurate intelligence information obtained by the Iraqi army intelligence.

The source, who preferred not to be named, said that "an ambush was set for them, during which the 66th Brigade of the 20th Division, was able to arrest 20 terrorists, including Arabs and foreigners, and 8 ISIS members who tried to flee were killed."

The spokesperson for the Iraqi Joint Operations Command, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, had announced in a previous statement to a number of media outlets that "many of ISIS supply routes from Syria to Iraq have been destroyed."
