Baghdad Court of Appeals has ordered the release of Abbas Taqi, former chancellor of Kirkuk University, who was sentenced to two years prison previously, according to one the members of his family.
Taqi was sentenced in October on charges of wasting public wealth during his tenure as chancellor of Kirkuk University.
A source close to Taqi’s family told KirkukNow: “The health of Abbas Taqi was unstable in the past several days and was therefore sent to Azadi Hospital.”
