I am Talal al-Safawi, a professional sculptor from Mosul.
MY art works are exhibited all over Iraq. I was born in Mosul in 1941 and studied there up to high school.
In 1963, I have joined the fine arts institute in Baghdad and graduated at top of my class.
In Mosul, there are many precious antiques left by our forerunners, one of it is Moslawi flagon dated back to 850 years ago.
It was made by Shuja son of Mana al-Mosulli out of precious stones and silver. Unfortunately, it is still exhibited in the British Museum in London.
I have sculptured it in a big size as the original is 60cm and mine is 5 m. I have decorated all the engravings and specifications and it is placed close to Mosul old bridge.
I have also made a sculpture for licorice juice seller and al-Zahrawi in Mosul Republican hospital.
Mosul is mother of artists as it generates artists by its at institutes and colleges so it has generations of sculptors and artists.
