Security forces have found the beheaded bodies of six buffalo herders in a village in Kirkuk’s western sub-district of Yaychi, according to KirkukNow sources.
Brigadier General Afrasyaw Kamil, spokesman to the Kirkuk police command said that unknown gunmen infiltrated into Komptlar village late on Monday October 7, and slaughtered five buffalo herders in the village.
Yaychi sub-district Commissioner Falah Khalil indicated that the victims were members of the al-Ka’abi tribe”, adding that the assailants fled the area after the incident.
Khalil added that security forces launched an investigation into the incident.
The attack came two days after another buffalo herder was found beheaded in the same area.
Buffalo herding has been our only source of income for dozens of families in Yaychi.
The sub-district is located 12 km west of the Kirkuk, and is inhabited by a majority ethnic Turkmens.
